Catholic Church 'St.Hippolyt' Zell am See
The Mass times are displayed here.
The Catholic parish church of St Hippolyt is an impressive sacred building on the town square of Zell am See. Architectural elements and styles, such as Gothic or late Gothic, from several centuries characterise the overall appearance of the historic three-church pillar basilica today.
At the Catholic parish church of St. Hippolyt, you can embark on a journey through time of sacred architecture. The church on the town square in Zell am See is one of the most awe-inspiring church buildings in Pinzgau, dating back to the 10th century. All that remains of the Ottonian aisleless church from this period is the crypt. The current building, a three-church pillar basilica, was extended in Gothic style up to the 13th century. The impressive west tower and the west gallery are spectacular examples of late Gothic architecture. Inside are neo-Gothic altars and beautifully designed stained-glass windows. The uncovered frescoes from the 14th and 17th centuries complete the historical ensemble.
