Kaprun Museum
The history of Kaprun goes back almost 4000 years: You can encounter this long history at the local history museum. Here you can marvel at archaeological finds from the first settlements, and learn how the region slowly developed into a tourist destination. Did you know that the foundation stone for the development of tourism in Zell am See-Kaprun was laid as early as 1900? The work and know-how that made Kaprun a favourite holiday destination is highlighted and presented in the exhibition. The construction of the power station and the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs also have a fixed place at the museum and are just as exciting as the history of the Kaprun Gletscherbahnen cableways.
Vötter's Vehicle Museum
A museum that makes the hearts of car fans beat faster: At Vötter's Vehicle Museum in Kaprun, passionate vehicle fan Helmut Vötter has collected around 200 exhibits from the 1950s to the 1970s. Among them are tractors, motorbikes, small cars and the largest convertible in the world. Most of the vehicles have been restored in long hours of work and now invite you to (automotive) dreaming. Some of the exhibits at the Vintage Car Museum are even still on the road every now and then: the historic vehicles from Vötter's Museum show what they are made of at the Oldtimer Grand Prix on the Grossglockner.
Museum Vogtturm in Zell am See
In the centre of Zell am See, the medieval Vogtturm invites you on a journey through time: The history, art, culture and innovation of the town of Zell am See and the region are presented within the old walls. The exciting special exhibition "The Porsche Design Principle" can also be seen in the Vogtturm until April 2025. It is dedicated to Design Studio F. A. Porsche, which is based in Zell am See and has shaped the design of numerous products - from gondolas to skyscrapers, from pianos to wristwatches. If you would like to explore the Vogtturm on a guided tour, pre-booking is required.
National Park Centre and National Park Gallery
Nature and the fascinating high alpine landscape of the Hohe Tauern are the focus of the exhibitions in the Mittersill National Park Centre. Changing exhibitions and interesting theme worlds on wildlife, flora and fauna in Austria's largest national park await you. The National Park Gallery on the Kitzsteinhorn at Gipfelwelt 3000 is also definitely worth a visit: here, if you wish, National Park rangers will guide you through the interior of the mountain and let you dive deep into the world of glaciers.
Ski museum Zell am See
In the Ski Museum Zell am See, you will embark on a fascinating journey through the history of skiing, starting from its origins to modern racing technologies. Perhaps you'll even discover skis from your childhood or deepen your knowledge of disciplines such as ballet skiing, ski touring, or monoskiing. Furthermore, the museum offers insights into renowned ski companies and the most famous athletes in the sport of skiing.
