The 400-year-old Steiner Farmhouse on the Kirchbichl is the home of Kaprun's local history museum. Visitors amble here through four exciting permanent exhibitions and learn new things about the region's prehistory, tourism pioneers, the power plant construction and the glacier lifts.
There is a very special house on the Kirchbichl in Kaprun: The old Steiner Farmhouse, which is a listed building, contains 400 years of history. This is the home of the Kaprun Museum. You can amble through four exciting exhibitions on an area of 140m2 during your visit: Find out more about the first traces of settlement, get to know the pioneers of tourism or learn something new about the construction of power plants. The local history museum also accommodates an exhibition dedicated to the development of the glacier cableways. The adjacent Machlhütte hosts regularly changing special exhibitions. History you can touch and taste every Friday from spring to fall. In the historic, free-standing oven, the Katschner bakery produces bread specialties in the traditional way.
