Freeride trails Mountain biking on the Kitzsteinhorn
Well-equipped with helmet and back protector, you set off by cable car to the Alpincenter on the Kitzsteinhorn: this is the starting signal for your flowy downhill adventure. Three mountain bike freeride trails - the Geissstein Trail, the Wüstlau Trail and the Bachler Trail - are waiting for you here. The terrain on the Kitzsteinhorn offers ideal conditions for mountain biking and, with small boulders, jumps and ledges, is made for freeriding.
You can master the uphill metres by mountain railway, your bike transport is included in the ticket. In addition, there is a trail on the Maiskogel that is also ideal for beginners: a perfect addition for bike freeriders in Zell am See-Kaprun.
F5 Geißstein Trail
- 3.4 km in length
- 492 altitude metres
After the start at the Alpincenter on the Kitzsteinhorn, you reach the flowy Geissstein Trail after a bit of strong pedalling. The first trials are small jumps and bends on the way downhill. Once warmed up, the trail branches off to the right at the ridge and you jump and ride over small rocks, ledges and bends until you arrive at Langwiedboden with a big grin on your face.
F4 Wüstlau Trail
- 6.5 km in length
- 1,100 altitude metres
This downhill trail starts via soft alpine pasture soil with perfectly shaped banked curves, and then follows the natural course of the trail in the lower part: here, fast passages alternate with technically demanding sequences - concentration and braking are required here!
F3 Bachler Trail
- 1.9 km in length
- 413 altitude metres
The Bachler Trail is the alternative to the Wüstlau Trail and offers absolute biking pleasure. The trail is characterised by flowy terrain and wide bends: Here you can easily manage even without long biking technique training. The trail is only accessible via a counter-climb, so you should use an uphill bike here.
F2 Maiskogel Trail
- 3.7 km in length
- 381 altitude metres
This trail leads from the upper terminus of the MK Maiskogelbahn over numerous wide and narrow banked curves, waves and small jumps to the Stanger intermediate terminus. The trail is wide and is also ideally suited for downhill sport beginners due to the gentle slope. But experienced bikers are also guaranteed to have fun on the trail on the Maiskogel.
