The church of St Sigismund in Thumersbach is a historical landmark that has existed for centuries. Until 1685, there was only a small chapel here. After extensive renovations in the 1990s, it now even impresses visitors with the sound of a new organ.

Once upon a time, there was just a small chapel quietly situated on the valley road in Thumersbach: Today, its extension - the Church of St Sigismund - impresses on this site and attracts visitors to Zell am See with its more than 300 years of history. The church was built in 1685, extended and provided with a new tower in the 1950s. Since 1995, the building has been shining in new splendour following extensive renovation of the roof and walls. The refurbishment can also be seen and, above all, heard inside: Since 2008, the sound of a new organ has filled the devotional rooms during church services.
