Salzburger Hütte

Salzburger Hütte is majestically enthroned at 1,879 metres on the Kitzsteinhorn. Sporty hikers and daring mountaineers stop at this cosy place for refreshments and traditional dishes in summer. The hut, with a view of countless 3000-metre-high peaks, offers a comfortable place to spend the night if you are on a two-day tour from the valley to the highest point of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. The Klawunn family, who has been making the Salzburger Hütte flourish since 2013, invites guests to tasty hut specialities on the sun terrace or in the quaint public room and makes sure that you feel comfortable.

Salzburger Hütte is located on Kitzsteinhorn at an altitude of 1,879 m amidst marvellous alpine scenery with divine views of the surrounding 3,000 m peaks and Salzach Valley around Lake Zell.

Facilities:

The hut is small and cosy and offers space for eating and drinking in a homey little parlour or on our large sun terrace. We also offer overnight stay options in two communal bunks for approx. 20 persons.

You can reach our hut in summer in many different ways:

• Comfortably take the gondola till just outside the door Ascent with Gletscherjet 1 or panoramic railway until Station Langwied, then a 20-minute descent

• Quite comfortable, yet a bit more demanding – hiking on well-signposted trails. Ascent from the valley taking path no. 711 from the lowermost glacier railway parking ground, approx. 2.5-hour walk, or ascent with hiking adventure bus to Maiskogel, then Alexander-Enzinger-Weg no. 5 + 51, approx. 3.5-hour walk. Divine view! Only for proficient hikers.

• For well-trained mountain bikers – covering 1,800 altitude metres on two wheels. Directly at the biking trail Kaprun-Maiskogel-Kitzsteinhorn. 1,400 spectacular altitude metres. Downhill options: challenging single trails!
