Schützingalm

Schützingalm , Thumersbach, 5700 Zell am See

Open again in summer 2025.

A place made for a well-deserved break: hikers are rewarded with a hearty and delicious snack platter at the Schützingalm of the Bichler family. In addition, you can enjoy the view of a mountain panorama that stretches from the Kaiser Mountains to the Grossglockner.

Surrounded by the Pinzgau grass mountains, your route leads from the hikers' car park at the Mitterberghof across colourful mountain meadows until you can reach the Schützingalm, where you enjoy a well-deserved time out. The Bichler family welcomes you here every summer, and serves a hearty Jause snack platter consisting of many regional products. Not hungry yet? Then it's worth climbing the almost 400 metres in altitude to the summit of the Schwalbenwand before being treated to specialities at the alpine pasture. Here you can enjoy the impressive panorama of Austria's most prominent mountains: the view stretches from the Kaiser Mountains and the Hohe Tauern to Steinernes Meer, the Hochkönig massif and even to the summit of the Grossglockner
