Are you currently planning your big day? We have compiled the best location tips for your dream wedding in and around Zell am See-Kaprun.
First things first: Congratulations! Your own wedding is one of the most beautiful days in your life - and should therefore be celebrated just as you like it. However, the planning can be a bit stressful, so, with our tips, we want to make this part easier for you.
Getting married on Lake Zell
Lake Zell is the heart of the region. So, what could be more natural than getting married directly on the lake? A wedding ceremony is possible on the excursion boat MS Schmittenhöhe or one of the three charter boats, including the nostalgic boat "Libelle". Here you can literally sail into wedded bliss on calm waters and celebrate with up to 85 people. Larger wedding parties are also possible on request. All information is available at infocenter@schmitten.at.
You don't want to get married on a boat, but still right on the lake? Zell am See-Kaprun also offers numerous locations for individual weddings. Some of the most renowned are the **** Seevilla Freiberg and the ****S Seehotel Bellevue, which offers a beautiful view of the lake and mountains from the terrace. The exclusive Schloss Prielau also delights with a private lakeside beach, where an open-air wedding ceremony directly on the water is possible.

Getting married on the mountain
The Schmittenhöhe is a very special place: the local mountain of Zell am See offers a view of more than 30 three-thousand-metre-high peaks and into the valley to Lake Zell. By the way, Empress Sisi already appreciated this scenic beauty. That is why the Elisabeth Chapel was built in her honour on the summit of the Schmittenhöhe. Today this chapel is an exclusive place for your wedding ceremony: surrounded by mighty mountain peaks you say "I do" at almost 2,000 metres above sea level.
On skis and snowboards
Zell am See-Kaprun is internationally popular as a wedding destination. This is partly due to the landscape, which is such an appropriately setting for your special day, boasting also the perfect spots for photos. The region is also popular because many couples actually met here - for example on a skiing holiday. A winter wedding is the ideal way to celebrate this love: thus, it sometimes happens that you see the bride, groom and the whole wedding party wedeling downhill into the valley on skis! As a location for your winter wedding, you can choose from the region’s wide range of cosy and quaint huts.
At the castle
If your heart beats for knights and medieval charm, then a wedding between battlements and castle courtyard at Kaprun Castle is just perfect. The castle from the 12th century is rich in history and has been extensively renovated in recent years. It offers an ambience full of atmosphere between thick walls, in the large knights' hall, the gallery hall or on the terrace. The castle is available for hire on an exclusive basis and is ideal for smaller parties, but also suitable for larger celebrations.
