The best thing about November
Over the past few days, winter has come for a first visit in Zell am See-Kaprun. And all we can say is: Dear Winter, how we have missed you! The joy of looking forward to a long ski season has thus increased even more - and luckily the pistes on the Kitzsteinhorn are already prepared. If you want, you can already catch up on last year's missed out days of skiing, because the glacier ski resort has been open since October. Wax your skis, sharpen the edges and off you go!
Accumulating days of skiing was unfortunately not that easy last winter. All the better that the ski season on the Kitzsteinhorn is extra-long again this year: from October until early summer, the motto here is "Get on your skis!". Top groomed pistes for beginners, leisure skiers and pros on skis await you here.
Skiing on the glacier: guaranteed snow and wide pistes
The journey to the high alpine winter paradise starts in autumn, with the Gletscherjet cable car taking skiers and snowboarders from the valley uphill to the glacier ski resort at 3,029 metres. Here you can count on top snow quality and enjoy your turns on the wide glacier pistes from autumn to early summer.
Our tip: If you want to improve your skiing technique with the support of professionals at the start of the ski season, the Ski School Oberschneider is the right place to go. The ski school is located directly in the glacier ski resort at Ski Dome II. Here you will find courses with professionally trained snow sports instructors as well as a rental and service station.
Place to be: snow park!
Would you rather show off your skilful jumps? Then the snow parks on the glacier are your perfect stage: the Glacier Park on the glacier plateau is perfectly shaped from autumn onwards and kickers, rails and boxes are ready for the shredders. From winter onwards, the Easy Park and the Central Park are also open and offer diverse setups for freestylers of all skill levels. The parks also include a mighty, six-metre-high superpipe, which attracts top athletes to the Kitzsteinhorn year after year.
Altitude training with "Icebreaker" & "Snow Queen"
Skiing as well as ski touring is possible on the Kitzsteinhorn as early as autumn. The ski resort offers two routes that are ideal for endurance and altitude training between 2,000 and 3,000 metres. The two tours "Eisbrecher" and "Schneekönigin" start at Langwied and then lead 474 or 899 metres in altitude further into the glacier area. The route runs safely along a signposted track on the edge of the piste, and the descent also takes you along the piste.
The best prospects for a sporty November, right? We wish you lots of fun!
